Tomorrow I will be part of a team to launch a new campus of King of Kings community church. I'll let you know how that goes. I am doing the music via what I call "iPod Worship". Since we don't know who is showing up we are including a couple of restylized hymns. I found a version of "Just As I Am" done by
Brian Doerksen, my all time favorite worship leader. Anyway, as I was working on it I became aware of the words of this profoundly simple gospel hymn for the first time all over again. Ever have that happen to you? Here are the words.
Charlotte Elliott
Just as I am without one plea
But that Thy blood was shed for me
And that Thou bidst me to come to Thee
O Lamb of God I come I come
Just as I am and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot
O Lamb of God I come I come
Just as I am though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt
Fighting within and fears without
O Lamb of God I come I come
Just as I am poor wretched blind
sight, riches, healing of the mind,
yea, all I need in Thee I find
O Lamb of God I come I come
Just as I am Thou wilt receive
Wilt welcome pardon cleanse and relieve
Because Thy promise I believe
O Lamb of God I come I come
